How to Find Your Niche in 2024
Ever thought about starting your own online business? I know, it sounds daunting, doesn’t it? But let me tell you a story that might just change your mind. Finding your niche is crucial for that task.
Back in 2016, fresh with enthusiasm and dreams, I dived headfirst into the online world. I had an idea, a vision — I wanted to create a video course. With a hefty investment of $2,000 in ads, I was ready to conquer. But, guess what? It was a flop. No success. Nada.
The Turning Point
Now, here’s where the story gets interesting. Did I give up? Nope. I hit the reset button. This time, I decided to do something radical — I talked to people. Yes, real, live human interactions! And what did I find? A need, a gap in the market that I could fill. I validated this need through a webinar and, hold your breath, I sold the course before I even created it! The result? A cool $10,000 in my pocket in just two weeks.
2023: I start Solopreneurship again
Fast forward to 2023, and here I am, gearing up to start my online business again. But this time, I’m armed with experiences and a plethora of topics I’m passionate about — from making better decisions and finding purpose to living with ease and mastering LinkedIn Ads.
So, How Do I Choose My Niche?
Ah, the million-dollar question! How do you choose what to start with? Here’s my five-step secret sauce:
- I Started Broad with “Clarity”: Since I knew I want to help people life easier lives, I’ve chosen clarity as a broad subject. At least I could get started that way!
- Talk to People: I started to form a hypothesis about what people are interested in.
- Identify a Need: After talking to a lot of people, I saw potential need in making decisions easier, finding life’s purpose, and living stress-free.
- Test Your Assumptions: I started testing my assumptions with a few posts. People resonated — BINGO!
- Choose Your Niche: Based on my findings, I picked a niche that resonates with me AND my audience: Decision-making.
Stop Going in Circles
I know, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of ideas and possibilities. But here’s my advice: Stop. Breathe. And start talking to others. It’s through these interactions that clarity emerges.
Build Your Empire, Step by Step
Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Your online empire won’t be, either. But every conversation, every little step you take brings you closer to your goal.
